Notodden Municipality
Notodden () is a municipality in Telemark county, Norway. It is located in the traditional district of Aust-Telemark. The administrative centre of the municipality is the town of Notodden. Other population centres include the villages of Bolkesjø, Gransherad, Heddal, Hjuksebø, Hjuksevelta, Rudsgrendi, Tinnoset, and Yli.

Sauherad
Sauherad is a former municipality in Telemark county, Norway. It was part of the traditional region of Midt-Telemark. The municipality existed from 1838 until its dissolution in 2020. The area is now part of Midt-Telemark Municipality and Notodden Municipality. The administrative centre was the village of Akkerhaugen. Other villages in the municipality included Gvarv, Holtsås, Hjukse, Hjuksebø, Nordagutu, and Sauherad.
Sauherad bordered the municipalities of Kongsberg, Skien, Nome, Bø, and Notodden.

Tinnsjå
Tinnsjå (also known as Tinnsjø or Tinnsjøen; ) is one of the largest lakes in Norway measuring about . At a depth of it is the third deepest lake in Norway and Europe. Tinnsjå is located in the municipalities of Tinn and Notodden in Telemark county. At its source in the west, the Måna river flows out of the lake Møsvatn and past the town of Rjukan into Tinnsjå. From the north, the river Mår flows from the lakes Mår, Gøystavatn, and Kalhovdfjorden into Tinnsjå. Tinnsjå is part of the Skien watershed, and it drains via the Tinnelva river in the south, down to the lake Heddalsvatn.

Hjuksevelta
Hjuksevelta or simply Hjukse is a village in Notodden Municipality in Telemark county, Norway. The village is located about half-way between the town of Notodden and the village of Nordagutu (in Midt-Telemark Municipality. The village is located on the hills overlooking the eastern shore of the lake Heddalsvatnet. In 2020, the Hjuksebø area became part of Notodden Municipality. Prior to that time, it was part of the old Sauherad Municipality.
Yli
Yli is a village in Notodden Municipality in Telemark county, Norway. The village is located about to the west of the town of Notodden and about to the southeast of the village of Heddal. The river Heddøla flows past the village just before emptying into the lake Heddalsvatnet about east of the village.

Heddalsvatnet () is a lake in Notodden Municipality and Midt-Telemark Municipality in Telemark county, Norway. The lake is located just south of the town of Notodden. The village of Heddal and the Heddalen valley are located to the northwest of the lake.

Blefjell
Blefjell is a small mountain range located along the border between Buskerud and Telemark in Norway. It encompasses parts of the five municipalities of Rollag, Flesberg, Kongsberg, Notodden and Tinn. The highest point is Bletoppen at above sea level.

Bolkesjø
Bolkesjø is a village in Notodden Municipality in Telemark county, Norway. The village is located along the Norwegian county road 37, about to the northeast of the village of Gransherad and about to the north of the town of Notodden. The village is located along a small lake that is also named Bolkesjø. There are also hotels and resorts in the village. The mountain Bletoppen lies about to the northwest.

Tinnoset
Tinnoset is a village in Notodden Municipality in Telemark county, Norway. The village is located at the southernmost end of the large lake Tinnsjå, where the river Tinnelva begins flowing south out of the lake. It is about south of the village of Rudsgrendi, about north of the village of Gransherad, and about to the west of the village of Bolkesjø.

Tinnelva (also known as Tinne or Tinnåa) is a river in Notodden Municipality in Telemark county, Norway. The long river flows between two lakes: Tinnsjå and Heddalsvatnet. The river begins at the village of Tinnoset draining from the lake Tinnsjå. It flows to the south and east, past the village of Gransherad and the Gransherad Church, past the Lisleherad Church further downstream, and finally emptying into the lake Heddalsvatnet at the town of Notodden.

Heddøla
Heddøla is a river in the municipalities of Hjartdal and Notodden in Telemark county, Norway. It starts from the junction of the rivers Hjartdøla and Skogsåa in the village of Sauland and it flows through the Heddal valley ending at the lake Heddalsvatnet.
