MDPI (Multidisciplinary Digital Publishing Institute) is a publisher of open-access scientific journals. It publishes over 390 peer-reviewed, open-access journals. MDPI is among the largest publishers in the world in terms of journal article output, and was the largest publisher of open access articles in 2020.

PeerJ is both a for profit, open access, and peer-reviewed scientific mega journal covering research in the biological and medical sciences and the publisher of the journal itself (PeerJ Inc.). The journal officially launched in June 2012, started accepting submissions on December 3, 2012, and published its first articles on February 12, 2013.

Founded in 1998, it is the largest provider of Canadian French and bilingual research publications in the humanities and social sciences, as well as select physical and natural science journals. The organization is a consortium of Université de Montréal, Université Laval, and Université du Québec à Montréal. Over 95% of the content on Érudit is offered in open access; for some journals, the most recent two or three years of issues are restricted, and by subscription only.
