An orchestra (; ) is a large instrumental ensemble typical of classical music, which combines instruments from different families. There are typically four main sections of instruments:
string instrument
musical instrument that generates tones by one or more strings stretched between two points
string orchestra
musical ensemble of classical bowed string instruments
orchestra pit
the area in a theater, between the stage and audience, in which musicians perform
rhythm section
group of musicians within a music ensemble or band who provide the underlying rhythm, harmony and beat for the rest of the band
radio orchestra
orchestra employed by radio or television networks
Baroque orchestra
orchestra that existed during the Baroque era
