A party is a gathering of people who have been invited by a host for the purposes of socializing, conversation, recreation, or as part of a festival or other commemoration or celebration of a special occasion. A party will often feature food and beverages, and generally conversation, music, dancing, or other forms of entertainment.

A sleepover, also known as a slumber party or pajama party, is a social occasion in which a young person stays at the home of a friend. Vechornytsi (), also known as dosvitky (Ukrainian: досвітки) is a Ukrainian tradition of youth gatherings accompanied with music, songs, jokes and rituals. Historically, such gatherings would be organized in a house owned by a childless widow (known as a mother), with food and other expenses being bought through a joint fund established by the participants, in a scheme similar to potluck.

bōnenkai
A is a Japanese drinking party that takes place at the end of the year and is generally held among groups of co-workers or friends. The purpose of the party, as its name implies, is to forget the woes and troubles of the past year, and hopefully look to the new year, usually by consumption of large amounts of alcohol.
