Patrick Mahomes

Patrick Lavon Mahomes II is an American professional football quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs of the National Football League (NFL). After becoming the Chiefs' starting quarterback in 2018, he led the team to seven consecutive AFC Championship Game appearances and five Super Bowl appearances, winning three. He is one of only five quarterbacks in NFL history to win three or more Super Bowls as a starter. Mahomes is widely regarded as one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time. He is often considered the best quarterback of his generation, with many outlets ranking him as the league's top player at the position.

Super Bowl LIX was an American football championship game played between the American Football Conference (AFC) champion and two-time defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs and the National Football Conference (NFC) champion Philadelphia Eagles. This game would determine the champion of the National Football League (NFL) for the 2024 season. In a rematch of Super Bowl LVII which was played two years prior, the Eagles defeated the Chiefs 40–22. The game was played on February 9, 2025, at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans. It was the eleventh Super Bowl played in New Orleans, and the eighth in the Superdome. Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts was named Super Bowl MVP after scoring three total touchdowns and setting the Super Bowl record for rushing yards by a quarterback with 72.
