Châteauneuf-du-Pape (; ) is a commune in the Vaucluse department in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region in southeastern France. The village lies about to the east of the Rhône (which marks the departmental border with Gard) and north of the city of Avignon. In old French, its name translates into "new castle of the Pope" or "Pope's new castle".
