Gällivare
Gällivare (; ; or ; or ; ) is a locality and the seat of Gällivare Municipality in Norrbotten County, province of Lapland, Sweden with 8,449 inhabitants in 2010. The town was founded in the 17th century. Together with nearby towns Malmberget and Koskullskulle it forms a conurbation with some 15,000 inhabitants.
Jokkmokk
Jokkmokk () is a locality and the seat of Jokkmokk Municipality in Norrbotten County, province of Lapland, Sweden, with 2,786 inhabitants in 2010. The Lule Sámi name of the place (composed of the individual words and ) means "River's Curve," due to the meandering river that runs through it. As in other towns in Lapland, the Swedish language is dominant at an official level in Jokkmokk in modern times. The settlement is just north of the Arctic Circle. Talvatissjön is located at the southern part of Jokkmokk.

The name is of Northern Sami origin, where Čohkkirasjávri means lake of assembly, as the area by the lake by which the village was founded was a Sami marketplace. The village got its first Finnish-speaking resident settlers in the 17th century, who changed the name into the more Finnish-sounding Jukkasjärvi, thereby removing its meaning, although järvi (jávri in Sami) still

Svappavaara

Mining was started around 1650. Large scale iron mining started in 1965. The mine was closed in 1983, but enrichment of iron ore from the mine at Kiruna is still going on. The mine is owned by LKAB, and was reopened in 2023, for mineral research purposes.

Nattavaara is located by road south of municipal seat Gällivare. That is also the nearest urban area, with Jokkmokk being slightly further away to the southwest. The only paved roads are to the north and the east, whereas the Jokkmokk road transitions into a gravel road just west of the village.

Aapua

Aapua is a village in the county of Norrbotten in Sweden. The village is situated in Övertorneå Municipality, 60 km from Pajala. In 2000 the village had 137 inhabitants. To the south there is a lake, Aapuajärvi. In 2005, seven wind turbines were built on the mountain Etu-Aapua, which is nearby. These wind turbines are the northernmost wind turbines in Sweden.
