Kardítsa
Karditsa ( ) is a city in western Thessaly in mainland Greece. It is the largest city and the capital of the Karditsa regional unit. According to the 2021 census, the municipality of Karditsa has a population of 55,979, of whom 40,272 live within the city limits of Karditsa.
Mouzaki Municipality
Mouzaki () is a town and a municipality in the northwestern part of the Karditsa regional unit, Greece. Mouzaki is located on the southwestern edge of the Thessalian plain, where the river Pamisos descends from the Agrafa mountains. It is 17 km southwest of Trikala and 24 km northwest of Karditsa. The Greek National Road 30 (Arta - Trikala - Karditsa - Volos) passes north of the town.
In 2020, Mouzaki was heavily affected by the medicane known as Cyclone Ianos. The town was flooded for several days.
Palamas Municipality
Palamas (Greek: Παλαμάς) is a town and a municipality in the Karditsa regional unit, Greece. Palamas is located south-southwest of Larissa, the capital of Thessaly, northwest of Lamia, north of Sofades, east-northeast of Karditsa and east-southeast of Trikala. Palamas is linked with the road linking Karditsa and Larissa. It also serves roads with the GR-6 (Larissa - Trikala - Ioannina - Igoumenitsa) and Sofades. The Pineios River is to the north as well as the Trikala regional unit.

Sofades Municipality
Sofades () is a town and municipality in Thessaly, central Greece belonging to the regional unit of Karditsa. Its 2011 census population was 6,056 people and 18,864 for the municipality, including a large Romani community. Its elevation is around 120 m above sea level, and the economy is mainly agricultural (cotton, corn). Sofades is located south of Palamas, southwest of Larissa, the capital of Thessaly, northwest of Lamia and southeast of Karditsa and Trikala. The native Greek inhabitants of the region are commonly known as Karagounides (Καραγκούνηδες).

Anthiro () is a mountain village in the western part of the Karditsa regional unit, Greece. Anthiro is the seat of the municipality of Argithea. Anthiro is located 20 km southwest of Mouzaki, 40 km west of Karditsa, and 19 km southwest of Pyli.

Mitropoli (, before 1915: Παληόκαστρον - Paliokastron) is a village and a former municipality in the Karditsa regional unit, Thessaly, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Karditsa, of which it is a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 57.894 km2. Population 2,892 (2021). The village, the site of the ancient city of Metropolis, was renamed in 1915 to reflect the association.

Karditsomagoula (Greek: Καρδιτσομαγούλα) is a large village in the Karditsa regional unit in Greece, with nearly 2,000 inhabitants. It is part of the municipality of Karditsa and is situated north of the central area of Karditsa, separated from it by the Greek National Road 30 (Arta - Trikala - Karditsa - Volos). It has a grid layout consisting of six 1,500-metre roads (North–South) and eleven 900-metre roads (East–West). It is located southeast of Trikala, southeast of Larissa, west of Palamas, northwest of Sofades, and northeast of the Plastiras Dam.

Belokomiti () is a mountain village and community in the municipal unit of Nevropoli Agrafon, Karditsa regional unit, Greece. The community Belokomiti includes the village Kedros. Belokomiti is situated in the Agrafa mountains, west of the artificial Lake Plastiras. It is located 9 km southeast of Kryoneri and 21 km southwest of Karditsa. The village is a tourist destination during the summer months. Among its attractions are the Gaki cave (σπηλιά του Γάκη) and its forests.

The community consists of the villages Drakotrypa, Arpakia, Keramargio, Milies, Spathes, Trygona and Tsarouchi. Drakotrypa is located at the foot of the Pindus mountains, 6 km southwest of Mouzaki and 28 km west of Karditsa.

Plastiras () is a former municipality in the Karditsa regional unit, Thessaly, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Lake Plastiras, of which it is a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 93.166 km2. It was named after the Greek general and Prime Minister Nikolaos Plastiras. Lake Plastiras covers a part of the municipal unit. Its residents are engaged chiefly in agriculture. The seat of the municipality was in Morfovouni.

Sellana (Greek: Σέλλανα) is a former municipality in the Karditsa regional unit, Thessaly, Greece, named after the ancient city of "Sellana" or "Silàna". Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Palamas, of which it is a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 89.490 km2. The seat of the municipality was in Proastio, which has 1,434 inhabitants (2021). Other communities in the municipal unit are those of Marathea (pop. 692), Agia Triada (548), Pedino (505) and Kalogriana (475).
