It lies east of Agios Nikolaos and northeast of Ierapetra. Sitia's port is on the Sea of Crete, part of the Aegean Sea and is one of the economic centers of the Lasithi region. European route E75 (which ends in Vardø, Norway) starts in Sitia. The town is served by the Sitia Public Airport. Kritsa
Kritsa () is one of the oldest and most picturesque villages in Crete, Greece, built amphitheatrically on a rock hill, named Kastellos, surrounded by olive groves, at an altitude of 375 m. It is part of the municipality of Agios Nikolaos. During the Middle Ages, it was thought to be the largest village in Crete. Kritsa has been destroyed many times during the last centuries because it participated in all of Crete's revolutions. It is located 10 km from Agios Nikolaos and has about 2200 inhabitants who live in different neighborhoods named Palemilos, Koukistres, Christos and Pergiolikia.

Kyriamadi
Kyriamadi or Kereamathi () has a double sense. Geographically it is the middle peninsula of Cape Sideros in the municipality of Sitia, in the northeast of Crete. Small land bridges connect it on the one hand to the Itanos promontory of mainland Crete to the southwest, and on the other hand the outermost peninsula Sideros to the northeast. In the Sea of Crete, just offshore to the west, are two small insular structures known as the Kyriamadi "islands" (which are hydrologically smaller than professionally defined islands and likely derive their name from the peninsula).
