Nginx (pronounced "engine x" , stylized as NGINX or nginx) is a web server that can also be used as a reverse proxy, load balancer, mail proxy and HTTP cache. The software was created by Russian developer Igor Sysoev and publicly released in 2004. Nginx is free and open-source software, released under the terms of the 2-clause BSD license. A large fraction of web servers use Nginx, often as a load balancer.

HAProxy is a free and open source software that provides a high availability load balancer and proxy (forward proxy, reverse proxy) for TCP and HTTP-based applications that spreads requests across multiple servers. It is written in C and has a reputation for being fast and efficient (in terms of processor and memory usage).

SquirrelMail is an open-source webmail application written in PHP. It provides a web-based interface for accessing email via the IMAP protocol and sends messages through SMTP. The project also includes a separate IMAP proxy server written in C. Both components are released under the GNU General Public License version 2 or later.
