The Scheldt ( ; ; ) is a river that flows through northern France, western Belgium, and the southwestern part of the Netherlands, with its mouth at the North Sea. Its name is derived from an adjective corresponding to Old English ("shallow"), Modern English shoal, Low German , West Frisian , and obsolete Swedish ("thin").

Allondon
The Allondon () is a river in France (Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region) and Switzerland (canton of Geneva). It is long, of which 6.1 km in Switzerland and 2.5 km on the French–Swiss border. Its source is located at elevation in the commune of Échenevex in the Ain department in eastern France. It flows into the Rhône at the village of Russin in the canton of Geneva in Switzerland. Its catchment area is , of which 137 km2 in France. It is home to the only recently known population of the rare insect Lachesilla rossica.

Brière
Brière (; ) is the marsh area north of the Loire estuary in France, near its mouth on the Atlantic Ocean. The residents of Brière are called Briérons. The Brière marsh area includes a vast area of humid zones stretching from the Gulf of Morbihan and the estuary of the Vilaine to the north, to the salt marshes of Guérande to the west, to the estuary of the Loire and the Lac de Grand-Lieu in the south. Peat used to be harvested here.

The Woëvre () (German: Waberland) is a natural region of Lorraine in northeastern France. It forms part of Lorraine plateau and lies largely in the department of Meuse. Along with the Côtes de Moselle, the Woëvre is one of the areas in Lorraine that receives the least rainfall; nonetheless, its river system is very important and feeds into the Lac de Madine.
