Its area of makes it the second largest lake in Norway by surface area. Without the dam which has regulated the lake since 1957, it would be and the third largest lake in Norway. Lesjaskogsvatnet
Lesjaskogsvatnet () is a lake in Lesja Municipality in Innlandet county, Norway. The lake lies in the upper Gudbrandsdalen valley, between the villages of Lesjaskog (on the west end) and Lesjaverk (on the east end). The European route E136 highway and the Raumabanen railway line both run along the north side of the lake.

Prestvannet
or is a small lake in Tromsø Municipality in Troms county, Norway. The lake sits at the highest point on the central part of the island of Tromsøya inside the city of Tromsø. Prestvannet was built up as a reservoir in 1867, and continued in that role until 1921. Since then it has been used as park land and a nature reserve.

Sysenvatnet () is a lake in Eidfjord Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. The lake lies at the north end of the Sysendalen valley, about east of the famous Vøringsfossen waterfall. The lake is dammed on the south end by a large stone embankment, which is used as the main reservoir for the Sima Hydroelectric Power Station. The Sysen Dam can be seen from Norwegian National Road 7, which runs near the lake's southern shore.
Storglomvatnet
or is a lake that lies in Meløy Municipality in Nordland county, Norway. It is located about southeast of the village of Glomfjord, on the northeast edge of the Svartisen glacier. Storglomvatnet is a reservoir that serves the Svartisen Hydroelectric Power Station. The lake is part of a large watershed system. The lake is regulated at a height of above sea level. This lake is also known as Grandma's lake to some locals.
Herefossfjorden
Herefossfjorden is a lake in the municipality of Birkenes in Agder county, Norway. The lake is about long and it is part of the Tovdalselva river. The Gauslåfjorden and Uldalsåna lakes flow into Herefossfjorden near the village of Herefoss at the northern end of the lake. The Uldalsåna lake is held back by a dam and the Gauslåfjorden flows over a waterfall (called the Herefossen) into the Herefossfjorden. The Norwegian National Road 41 runs along the eastern shore. Viddalsdammen () is a lake and a reservoir in Aurland Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. The reservoir has an area of and the elevation varies between and above sea level. Viddalsdammen is located at the end of the Låvisdalen valley, about southeast of the village of Aurlandsvangen, about southeast of the village of Flåm, and about northeast of Myrdal Station.
Juklavatnet
Juklavatnet is a lake on the border of Kvinnherad Municipality and Ullensvang Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. The lake lies just outside Folgefonna National Park and immediately to the west of the Nordre Folgefonna glacier. The only road access comes from the small village of Nordrepollen in the Mauranger area of Kvinnherad municipality, about south of the lake. There is a dam on the western end of the lake which regulates the depth of the water so that it can be used for hydroelectric power generation. The lake is the largest reservoir that feeds into the Mauranger power station.

Geatnjajávri is a lake in Berlevåg Municipality in Finnmark county, Norway. The lake is located just north of the border with Tana Municipality, along the road between the villages of Berlevåg and Båtsfjord. The Norwegian County Road 890 crosses over the lake on a causeway and bridge on the western side of the lake. The lake has a dam on the northern end and the water eventually flows out into the river Kongsfjordelva.
Storakersvatnet
, , or is a lake in Rana Municipality in Nordland county, Norway. The lake lies about south of the town of Mo i Rana and less than from the border with Sweden. The original lake was only , but a dam was built at the northern end so that it can serve as a reservoir for the Rana power station. This dam has caused the lake to enlarge to an area of .
Ringedalsvatnet
Ringedalsvatnet is a lake in Ullensvang Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. The lake sits just east of the village of Skjeggedal and about east (up the valley) from the village of Tyssedal, which sits on the shore of the Sørfjorden. The lake is the main reservoir for a hydroelectric power station in Tyssedal which provides electricity for the power intensive industries in the nearby town of Odda. The wide and high Ringedals Dam was constructed from 1910–1918.

Skjerjavatnet
Skjerjavatnet is a lake and reservoir in the Nordhordland area of Vestland county, Norway. It is located on the border of Vaksdal Municipality and Modalen Municipality. The lake sits at an elevation of above sea level, in the mountains between the Modalen valley and Eksingedalen valley. The southwest and northeast ends of the lake are both dammed up so that the lake can be regulated for hydroelectric power.
Torfinnsvatnet
Torfinnsvatnet is a lake in Voss Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. The lake lies about east of the lake Hamlagrøvatnet. The lake has a dam on the west side, which keeps the water level regulated for the local hydroelectric power plants. The river Torfinno connects the lake to the nearby lake Hamlagrøvatnet.
Botsvatn
Botsvatn or Bossvatn is a lake in the municipality of Bykle in Agder county, Norway. The long, narrow reservoir is located just to the southeast of the large lake Blåsjø and northeast of the lake Ytre Storevatnet. The lake holds water for the Brokke Hydroelectric Power Station, located in nearby Valle municipality. The water from the lake can flow out into the nearby river Otra, but only when water is released from the dam.

Hartevatnet or Hartevatn is a lake in the municipality of Bykle in Agder county, Norway. It is located along the river Otra, on the south side of the village of Hovden. The lake is a good fishing spot and contains many brown trout. The Norwegian National Road 9 runs along the eastern shore of the lake. The lake Skyvatn lies about to the northwest and the lake Holmavatnet lies about to the northwest.

Strandavatnet is a lake in Hol municipality, Norway. The lake covers an area of , and lies above sea level.' The lake is a reservoir for the Rud hydroelectric powerstation in Hovet, Buskerud. In 1952/1953 a dam was constructed which lifted the lake level 28 meters, thus the lake varies between 950 and 978 m above sea level.
Eldrevatnet
Eldrevatnet is a lake in Lærdal Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. The lake lies at an elevation of above sea level. It is located about southeast of the village of Borgund, not far from the European route E16 highway and the Filefjell Kongevegen road. The lake Øljusjøane lies south of the lake. The lake Juklevatnet and the mountain Høgeloft both lie about to the northeast of the lake.
Arstaddalsdammen
Arstaddalsdammen is a lake that lies in Beiarn Municipality in Nordland county, Norway. It is located about southwest of the village of Moldjord. The lake lies in the southern end of the Arstaddal valley, and it has a dam on the northern end. The dam was built in the 1960s. The water from the lake is piped to the nearby lake Sokumvatnet in Gildeskål Municipality. The lake serves as a reservoir for the Sundsfjord Hydroelectric Power Station.

Virdnejávri is a lake in Kautokeino Municipality in Finnmark county, Norway. The lake is a man-made lake located on the river Kautokeinoelva which flows over the Finnmarksvidda plateau. The dam at the northern end is part of the Alta Hydroelectric Power Station.

Gjevillvatnet is a lake in Oppdal Municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. It is located in the Trollheimen mountain range, about south of the mountain Blåhøa and about northwest of the village of Vognillan.
Valldalsvatnet
Valldalsvatnet is a lake in Ullensvang Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. The lake lies about northeast of the village of Røldal. The lake has a dam at the southern end, and it is used to regulate the water level for purposes of hydroelectric power generation. The lake was originally about long and surrounded by many dairy farms. Since the tall dam was built, the lake grew to about long. This lake and the neighboring lakes of Votna and Røldalsvatnet are all regulated together as part of the Røldal-Suldal watershed which feeds a nearby hydroelectric power station.

Gautelisvatnet
or is a lake that is located on the border of Norway and Sweden, about southeast of the town of Narvik. The Norwegian side lies in Narvik Municipality in Nordland county and the Swedish side lies in Gällivare Municipality in Norrbotten County. The lake has a dam on the northern end and the water is used for hydropower. After the dam was built, the lake grew and merged with the lake Vannaksvatnet to the south. The lake Unna Guovdelisjávri lies just to the east of this lake.
Bjølsegrøvvatnet
Bjølsegrøvvatnet is a lake in Kvam Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. The lake lies at an elevation of above sea level in the mountains east of the Fyksesund fjord and northwest of the village of Ålvik. It has a dam on the southeastern tip of the lake to regulate the amount of water in it. The lake is used as a reservoir for the nearby Bjølvo hydroelectric power station.

Svartediket is a lake in Bergen Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. It lies about east of the centre of the city of Bergen. The lake lies immediately north of the mountain Ulriken, northeast of the Store Lungegårdsvannet bay. Historically, this lake was called Ålrekstadsvannet, but in the late 19th century, a dam was built on the south end of the lake to create a reservoir for the city's drinking water.

Bangsjøan
Bangsjøan is a man-made lake in Trøndelag county, Norway. It is located along the borders of the municipalities of Snåsa, Grong, Overhalla, and Steinkjer. The lake lies about north of the lake Snåsavatnet and about northwest of the village of Snåsa. The lake was created by the building of a dam which cause the water level of three neighboring lakes to rise and flow together into one large lake. The dam is located on what is now the northwestern side of the lake.

Styggevatnet
Styggevatnet is a glacial lake from the glacier Jostedalsbreen in Luster Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. The lake is regulated by a dam and it empties into the river Jostedøla. The lake originally was located immediately to the southeast of the lake Austdalsvatnet, but after the construction of the dam, the two lakes have grown together as the water level rose. The lake is about to the east of Lodalskåpa and Brenibba in Jostedalsbreen National Park.
Askjelldalsvatnet
Askjelldalsvatnet is a lake in Vaksdal Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. The small lake lies at an elevation of in the Vikafjell mountains between the Modalen and Eksingedalen valleys. The lake has a dam at the southern end of the lake. The Askjelldalsvatnet dam is used to regulate the water level so that the water can be used for water power at a nearby power plant. The lake Skjerjavatnet lies about to the west.

Rihpojávri or Riehppejávri is a lake which lies in Storfjord Municipality in Troms county, Norway, just to the south of European route E8. The lake is a reservoir that has a dam on the north end. The water leaving the lake flows into the Rihpojohka river which then flows into the Skibotnelva.
Kovvatnet
or is a lake in Alta Municipality in Finnmark county, Norway. It is located on the mainland, immediately north of the Langfjorden and about straight east of the village of Øksfjordbotn (in Loppa Municipality). The lake has two small dams on the southeast end of the lake. The dams are part of a hydroelectric power plant, located just east of the lake.

It is located east of Borgund in Lærdal Municipality, just to the south of the mountain Høgeloft in the Filefjell range. The lake sits at an elevation of above sea level. It is located northeast of the lake Eldrevatnet and northeast of the lake Øljusjøane.

Hamlagrøvatnet is a lake in Vestland county, Norway. The lake lies along the border of Voss Municipality and Kvam Municipality. At , it is the largest lake in all of Hordaland. The lake is located about southeast of the village of Dale (in Vaksdal Municipality) and about south of the village of Evanger (in Voss Municipality).

The lake is regulated and is used by the nearby Hovatn hydroelectric power plant. The dam has an outlet into the Hovassåni river which empties into the Åraksfjorden near Åraksbø.

Foldsjøen
Foldsjøen is a reservoir located on the border of Surnadal Municipality in Møre og Romsdal and Rindal Municipality in Trøndelag counties in Norway. The lake is dammed from the Folda River and the water is used in the Trollheim power station. Slightly more elevated and directly to the south is the Gråsjøen reservoir, which is also behind a hydro-power dam.
