Rhinoceroses

A rhinoceros ( ; ; ; : rhinoceros or rhinoceroses), commonly abbreviated to rhino, is a member of any of the five extant species (or numerous extinct species) of odd-toed ungulates (perissodactyls) in the family Rhinocerotidae. It is the only living family in the superfamily Rhinocerotoidea (whose members are also sometimes called rhinoceroses). Two of the extant species are native to Africa, and three to South and Southeast Asia.

The Karkadann (Arabic كركدن karkadann or karkaddan from Kargadan, Persian: كرگدن) is a mythical creature said to have lived on the grassy plains of India and Iran.

Diceros (Greek: "two" (dio), "horn" (keratos)) is a genus of rhinoceros containing the extant black rhinoceros (Diceros bicornis) and several extinct species.

Elasmotheriinae is an extinct subfamily of true rhinoceroses (Rhinocerotidae) that roamed across Afro-Eurasia and possibly North America from the Early Miocene (or possibly as early as the Eocene, depending on what taxa are included) to the Late Pleistocene. It is best known from the youngest member of the group, Elasmotherium, one of the largest true rhinoceroses, which survived until at least 39,000 years ago in eastern Europe and Central Asia.
