Rivers of Ain

The Rhône ( , ; Occitan: Ròse; Arpitan: Rôno) is a major river in France and Switzerland, rising in the Alps and flowing west and south through Lake Geneva and Southeastern France before discharging into the Mediterranean Sea (Gulf of Lion). At Arles, near its mouth, the river divides into the Great Rhône (; ) and the Little Rhône (; ). The resulting delta forms the Camargue region.

The Saône ( , ; ; ) is a river in eastern France (modern region of Bourgogne-Franche-Comté). It is a right tributary of the Rhône, rising at Vioménil in the Vosges department and joining the Rhône in Lyon, at the southern end of the Presqu'île.

The Allondon () is a river in France (Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region) and Switzerland (canton of Geneva). It is long, of which 6.1 km in Switzerland and 2.5 km on the French–Swiss border. Its source is located at elevation in the commune of Échenevex in the Ain department in eastern France. It flows into the Rhône at the village of Russin in the canton of Geneva in Switzerland. Its catchment area is , of which 137 km2 in France. It is home to the only recently known population of the rare insect Lachesilla rossica. The Albarine () is a long river in the Ain department in Eastern France. Its source is at Brénod. It flows generally southwest. It is a left tributary of the Ain, into which it flows at Châtillon-la-Palud, northeast of Lyon.

The Veyle (; ) is a long river in the Ain department in eastern France. Its source is in Chalamont. It flows generally northwest. It is a left tributary of the Saône, into which it flows between Grièges and Crottet, near Mâcon.

The Chalaronne () is a long river in the Ain department in eastern France. Its source is at Lapeyrouse, in the Dombes. It flows generally northwest. It is a left tributary of the Saône, into which it flows between Saint-Didier-sur-Chalaronne and Thoissey.

The river Valserine () is a tributary of the Rhône that flows for from the Col de la Faucille in the Jura Mountains to its confluence with the Rhône at Bellegarde-sur-Valserine. The Valserine Valley has great charm; it includes the Pont des Pierres that spans the river between Montanges and Mulaz (in the commune of Confort), as well as the Pertes de la Valserine just north of Bellegarde-sur-Valserine, a canyon in which during the dry season the Valserine runs underground.

The Solnan () is a long river in the Ain and Saône-et-Loire departments in eastern France. Its source is at Verjon, in the Jura Mountains. It flows generally north-northwest. It is a left tributary of the Seille, into which it flows at Louhans.
