Roman sites in Basilicata

Venosa (Lucano: ) is a town and comune in the province of Potenza, in the southern Italian region of Basilicata, in the Vulture area. It is bounded by the comuni of Barile, Ginestra, Lavello, Maschito, Montemilone, Palazzo San Gervasio, Rapolla and Spinazzola. It is one of ("The most beautiful villages of Italy").

Grumentum () was an ancient Roman city in the centre of Lucania, in what is now the comune of Grumento Nova, c. south of Potenza by the direct road through Anxia, and by the '''', at the point of divergence of a road eastward to Heraclea.
