Anatoliy Petritskiy served as the film's Director of Photography. The Soviet era comedy won the 1977 Golden Prize at the 10th Moscow International Film Festival.

The film was released in Russia on April 4, 2010. The Andrey Kavun film is the first to depict Russians in Afghanistan after the Soviet withdrawal from the country.
