Bygland is a municipality in Agder county, Norway. It is located in the traditional district of Setesdal. The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Bygland. Other villages in the municipality include Åraksbø, Austad, Byglandsfjord, Grendi, Langeid, Lauvdal, Litveit, Longerak, Moi, Ose, Sandnes, Skåmedal, and Tveit. The Norwegian National Road 9 runs through the municipality, following the river Otra where most of the population of Bygland lives.

Otra
The Otra is the largest river in the Sørlandet region of Norway. It begins in Setesdalsheiene mountains at the lake Breidvatnet in Bykle municipality in Agder county, just south of the border with Vinje municipality in Telemark county. The river then flows south through Bykle, Valle, Bygland, Evje og Hornnes, Iveland, Vennesla, and Kristiansand municipalities. The river empties into the Skagerrak in the center of the city of Kristiansand on the southern coast of Norway.

Byglandsfjorden
Byglandsfjorden is a lake in Agder county, Norway. The lake lies on the river Otra, primarily in the municipality of Bygland, but the far southern tip of the lake extends into the neighboring municipality of Evje og Hornnes. The river flows out of the lake Åraksfjorden to the north and into the Byglandsfjorden through a narrow channel, and the southern end of the Byglandsfjorden is marked by a dam along the river. The village is located in the Setesdal valley along the Norwegian National Road 9 and the river Otra in the far southern part of the municipality, just north of the border with Evje og Hornnes municipality and at the southern end of the lake Byglandsfjorden. Vatnestrøm
Vatnestrøm is a village in Iveland municipality in Agder county, Norway. It is along Norwegian County Road 405, on the western shore of the lake Ogge. The municipal centre of Birketveit lies about northwest and the village of Oggevatn in the neighboring municipality of Birkenes lies about northeast.
Birketveit
Birketveit is the administrative centre of Iveland municipality in Agder county, Norway. The village is located about north of the villages of Skaiå and Bakken, and about to the west of the village of Vatnestrøm. The Iveland Church is located on the south end of the village, and the small lake Birketveitstjønna lies on the west side of the village. The municipal government building is located in Birketveit and it houses a small mineral/mining museum, there is also a municipal sports hall in Birketveit.

Hartevatnet or Hartevatn is a lake in the municipality of Bykle in Agder county, Norway. It is located along the river Otra, on the south side of the village of Hovden. The lake is a good fishing spot and contains many brown trout. The Norwegian National Road 9 runs along the eastern shore of the lake. The lake Skyvatn lies about to the northwest and the lake Holmavatnet lies about to the northwest.

The lake is located about west of the village of Birketveit in Iveland, about north of the village of Hægeland in Vennesla, and about south of the village of Hornnes in Evje og Hornnes.
Åraksfjorden
Åraksfjorden is a lake in the municipality of Bygland in Agder county, Norway. The lake is part of the Otra drainage basin. The northern part of the lake is fed directly by the river Otra. The southern part of the lake goes through a narrow channel which leads into the Byglandsfjorden. The villages of Frøysnes and Skåmedal are located along the western side of the lake and on the eastern side are the villages of Sandnes and Åraksbø. The Norwegian National Road 9 runs along the eastern side of the lake.
Hovatn
Hovatn or Hovatnet is a lake in the municipality of Bygland in Agder county, Norway. It is part of the Otra river drainage basin. The lake is regulated and is used by the nearby Hovatn hydroelectric power plant. The dam has an outlet into the Hovassåni river which empties into the Åraksfjorden near Åraksbø.
Evjemoen
Evjemoen was a Norwegian military camp in use from 1912 to 2002. The camp lies south of the village of Evje in Evje og Hornnes municipality in Agder county. From 1953 to 1995, Evjemoen was used as a training area for the Infanteriets øvingsavdeling II (IØ2). The camp was retired in December 2002.

Lauvdal
Lauvdal is a village in the municipality of Bygland in Agder county, Norway. It's located along the Norwegian National Road 9 on the east side of Byglandsfjorden. The village lies about south of the village of Bygland and about the same distance north of the village of Longerak. The population (2001) was 41 residents. The lake Longerakvatnet is located about southeast of the village.

Setesdalsheiene () is the collective term for the mountains to the west and east of the Setesdalen valley in Agder county in Southern Norway. The river Otra flows through the valley between the mountains. This area is primarily located in the municipalities of Bykle, Valle, Bygland, Evje og Hornnes, Sirdal, Kvinesdal, and Åseral. The vast Hardangervidda plateau lies to the north and the Ryfylkeheiene mountains lie to the west.

Topsæ
Topsæ is a lake in the municipality of Bygland in Agder county, Norway. The lake is located east of the lake Hovatn, about northeast of the village of Åraksbø. The Topsæfossen waterfall is located at the north end of the lake at the primary inflow. At the southeastern corner of the lake, there is a small dam to regulate the outflow of the lake into the Tovdalselva watershed.

Reiårsfossen
Reiårsfossen is a tall waterfall in Setesdal, Norway. The waterfall is located along the Norwegian National Road 9, just south of the village of Ose in the municipality of Bygland in Agder county. The waterfall flows down into a short stream before emptying into the northern end of the Åraksfjorden. The area, which contains several of creeks and rivers, was protected by law in 1973.

Hylestad is a former municipality in the old Aust-Agder county in Norway. The former municipality existed from 1915 until its dissolution in 1962. It was located in the southern part of the present-day municipality of Valle in the traditional region of Setesdal in Agder county. The administrative centre was the village of Rysstad where the Hylestad Church was located.

Longerakvatnet or Longeraksvatnet is a lake in the municipality of Bygland in Agder county, Norway. It has a small dam on the southwest side to regulate the water level for hydro-electric power generation at a plant located down the hill. The lake discharges into the Longeraksåni river which flows into the Byglandsfjorden near the village of Longerak. The lake is located about southeast of the village of Lauvdal and about northeast of the village of Byglandsfjord.

Hornnes is a former municipality in the old Aust-Agder county in Norway. Hornnes was located in what is now the present-day municipality of Evje og Hornnes in the traditional district of Setesdal in Agder county. The municipality of Hornnes existed from 1886 until 1960. The administrative centre was the village of Hornnes where the Hornnes Church is located.
Breidvatn
Breidvatn is a lake in Bykle municipality in Setesdal, in Agder County, southern Norway. It has an outlet to the south to the river Otra. The main inlets are Bjålaupet, which enters from Sæsvatn in the north, and Kaldsåi from the west. Together with Sæsvatn, Breivatn is regulated as a reservoir for the power plants further down the Otravassdraget.
