Socotra Governorate

Socotra, locally known as Saqatri, is a Yemeni island in the Indian Ocean. It is situated between the Gulf of Aden, the Guardafui Channel and the Arabian Sea, and lies near major shipping routes. The largest of the six islands in the Socotra archipelago, it comprises around 95% of the landmass of the archipelago. It lies south of the Arabian Peninsula and east of the Horn of Africa. The inhabitants of the island are called Socotrans, and they speak Arabic and Soqotri.

Hadibu is the largest town and administrative capital of Socotra Governorate, a governorate of Yemen. It is situated on the northeastern coast of Socotra in the Socotra Archipelago. It hosts the main airport and sea port serving the island, making it the primary gateway. It is the seat of Hidaybū, the larger eastern district of Socotra's two administrative districts. The Soqotri language, an unwritten Semitic language, is widely spoken.

Qād̨ub () - and also known as Kathub, Qadhub, or Qadib - is a town on the island of Socotra. It is located in the Hidaybu District close to Socotra Airport. With a population of 929 it is the third largest town of Socotra.
