Spacecraft decommissioned in 2025

IKAROS (Interplanetary Kite-craft Accelerated by Radiation Of the Sun) is a Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) experimental spacecraft. The spacecraft was launched on 20 May 2010, aboard an H-IIA rocket, together with the Akatsuki (Venus Climate Orbiter) probe and four other small spacecraft. IKAROS is the first spacecraft to successfully demonstrate solar sail technology in interplanetary space. The craft's name is an allusion to the legendary Icarus (, Ikaros), who flew close to the Sun on wings made of bird-feathers and wax.

American private spacecraft which landed on the Moon in 2025

IM-2 was a lunar mission run by Intuitive Machines as part of NASA's Commercial Lunar Payload Services (CLPS) program. It was launched on 27 February 2025, at 00:16:30UTC. The Nova-C lunar lander, named Athena, reached the surface of the Moon on 6 March 2025, at 17:28:50UTC. Contact was temporarily lost during the landing process; when it was re-established, it indicated that the spacecraft was not in the correct orientation and one of the two radio antennas was not operating. NOAA-19, known as NOAA-N' (NOAA-N Prime) before launch, was the last of the American National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) series of weather satellites. NOAA-19 was launched on 6 February 2009. NOAA-19 was in an afternoon Sun-synchronous orbit and was launched with the intention that it replace NOAA-18 as the prime afternoon spacecraft, which it did in June 2009.
