statics
Statics is the branch of classical mechanics that is concerned with the analysis of force and torque acting on a physical system that does not experience an acceleration, but rather is in equilibrium with its environment.
beam
structural element capable of withstanding loads by resisting bending
mechanical equilibrium
(in classical mechanics) a particle is in mechanical equilibrium if the net force on that particle is zero
normal force
force exerted on an object by a body with which it is in contact, and vice versa

statically indeterminate
when a structure's static equilibrium equations have no unique solution
Lami's theorem
equation relating the magnitudes of three coplanar, concurrent and non-collinear vectors, which keeps an object in static equilibrium, with the angles directly opposite to the corresponding vectors
