Labeobarbus
Labeobarbus is a mid-sized ray-finned fish genus in the family Cyprinidae. Its species are widely distributed throughout eastern Africa and especially southern Africa, but also in Lake Tana in Ethiopia. A common name, in particular for the southern species, is yellowfish. The scientific name refers to the fact that these large barbs recall the fairly closely related "carps" in the genus Labeo in size and shape. As far as can be told, all Labeobarbus species are hexaploid. One species, L. microbarbis from Rwanda, is known to have gone extinct in recent times.

Carasobarbus
Carasobarbus, the himris, is a small genus of ray-finned fishes in the family Cyprinidae. Its species are found in rivers, streams, lakes and ponds in Western Asia and Northwest Africa. C. canis can reach in total length, but most other species are up to around half or one-quarter of that size.
Mesopotamichthys sharpeyi
The binni (Mesopotamichthys sharpeyi) is a species of cyprinid fish endemic to the Tigris–Euphrates Basin in the Middle East. This fish mostly inhabits lakes and marshes, especially in densely vegetated places where it also lays its eggs, but periodically it moves into rivers. This barbel is the only member in its genus, but was included in the "wastebasket genus" Barbus by earlier authors. It has declined in recent times due to habitat loss and overfishing.
Neolissochilus
Neolissochilus is a genus of fish in the family Cyprinidae native to freshwater habitats in Asia that are often grouped with the mahseers. The largest reach up to in length, but most species are much smaller.
Hypselobarbus
Hypselobarbus is a genus of fish in the family Cyprinidae endemic to India.
Arabibarbus
Arabibarbus is a genus of Cyprinidae. They are medium-small to very large freshwater carps found in the Western Asia.
Acapoeta
Acapoeta tanganicae, or the mbaraga, is a species of ray-finned fish in the family Cyprinidae. The genus Acopoeta is monotypic and is currently classified in the subfamily Torinae within the Cyprinidae.
Osteochilichthys
Osteochilichthys is a small genus of cyprinid fishes. It is endemic to southern India.
