It may have Javanese origins, as the name "Chaavaka+cheari" literally means Javanese settlement (there are also some references to a Javanese fort in northern Sri Lanka). The town may date back to the Southeast Asian occupation of Yalpanam, where certain settlements and forts were established by Chandrabhanu to maintain hegemony over the overseas colony. Karainagar () (pronounced Kaarai-Nagar) is located 20 km from Jaffna, Sri Lanka, on the island of Karaitivu. In Tamil, the name is derived from the Tamil word 'kadar-karai' meaning a settlement (or town) on the sea coast. Karainagar is the nearest town to Casuarina Beach.

Uduvil () is an agricultural village of about 32.7 square kilometers situated along the KKS Road at about five miles to the North of Jaffna city, Sri Lanka. It is surrounded by the villages Chunnākam, Kandarōdai, Sanguvēli, Mānipāy, Suthumalai and Inuvil. KKS Road and Kaithady - Mānipāy Road intersect at Uduvil and the Junction is called 'Maruthanār Madam' Junction. Keerimalai
Keerimalai ( kīrimalai) is a town in Jaffna District, Sri Lanka. Naguleswaram temple is located in this suburb. The mineral water spring called Keerimalai Springs here is reputed for its curative properties. In Tamil, Keerimalai means "mongoose-hill"; see Naguleswaram temple. Keerimalai is situated 25 km north of Jaffna.

Kopay () is a Sri Lankan town about 4 km from the city of Jaffna along Point Pedro road. An agricultural town consisting mainly of vegetable farms, paddy fields and coconut gardens. The suburb Kopay has several scholars because of very strong schooling system. Arumuka Navalar established the school managed by Suwaminathan is famous for this. Arrival of Church Missionary Society (CMS) strengthened the educational system. Kopay Christian College is one of the oldest schools in Jaffna with 150 years of service remain unbeaten in producing quality scholars.
