Qadhadhfa
The Qadhadhfa (also al-Qaddadfa, Gaddadfa, Qaddadfa, Gaddafa; ) is one of the Arab Ashraf tribes in Libya, living in the Sirte District in present-day northwestern Libya. They are traditionally counted amongst the country's Ashraf tribes, and during the Gaddafi regime were regarded as one of the greatest and most powerful tribes in the whole country. Much of the tribe is of Arab descent.They are now mostly centered at Qasr Abu Hadi, Sirte.
Warfalla
Warfalla () is a tribal confederation of mixed Arab and Arabized Berber origin that resides in Tripolitania, western Libya, mainly in their stronghold of Bani Walid. Warfalla historically inhabited the area bounded by the cities of Bani Walid and Sirte, as well as the town of Sabha. The Warfalla tribe, along with the Qadhadhfa and Magarha, were the backbone of Muammar Gaddafi's regime. The Warfalla tribe is considered a confederacy of 52 sub-tribes that consist of individual bayts or clans. Warfalla is estimated to be Libya's largest tribe with approximately one million members.
Houara
The Hawwara () is a Berber tribal confederation in the Maghreb, primarily in Tripolitania, with descendants in Upper Egypt and Sudan. Hawwara are amongst the most prominent tribes in Upper Egypt, with branches found mainly in Qena. They are also found in Morocco and Algeria. In Sudan, they are labelled as Hawwaweer () (plural of Hawwara), and have a significant political presence.
Zuwayya
Zuwayya (arabic: الزْوَيّة) (Al-Zuwayya) are an independent Murabtin tribe, one of the major Arab Bedouin tribes of Cyrenaica and Fezzan, Libya.
Firjan
The Firjan (also al-Firjan) () is an Arab Murabtin tribe in Libya. They live across northern Libya, with large populations in the Sirte, Ajdabiya, Benghazi, Murqub (Tarhuna) districts. The nisbah of tribe is al-Firjani.
Magarha

The Magarha (also al-Magarha, Meqariha) () is one of the major Arab tribes of Libya. They originate from Fezzan province of Libya and have been an influential supporters and beneficiaries of Muammar Gaddafi during his long rule and then Libya's 2011 civil war. Some Magarha have relocated to Sirte and elsewhere along the coast.
