Marmaray () is a commuter rail line located in Istanbul, Turkey. The line runs from Halkalı, on the European side, to Gebze, on the Asian side, along the north shore of the Sea of Marmara. Mostly using the right-of-way of two existing commuter rail lines, the Marmaray line linked the two lines via a tunnel under the Bosporus strait, becoming the first standard gauge rail connection between Europe and Asia (all prior connections ran through Russia and used the incompatible Russian broad gauge). Crossrail is a completed railway project centred on London. It provides a high-frequency hybrid commuter rail and rapid transit system known as the Elizabeth line, that crosses the capital from suburbs on the west to east and connects two major railway lines terminating in London: the Great Western Main Line and the Great Eastern Main Line. The project was approved in 2007, and construction began in 2009 on the central section and connections to existing lines that became part of the route, which has been named the Elizabeth line in honour of Queen Elizabeth II who opened the line on 17 May 20

Thameslink is a main line route on the British railway network, running from , , , , , and via Central London to , , , Rainham, , , and . The initial network opened as a through service in 1988 and, as of 2025, currently calls at 135 stations in regular service. The entire route is currently operated by Govia Thameslink Railway. A part of the route, from to , runs 24 hours a day, except on early Sunday mornings and during maintenance periods.

Merseyrail is a commuter rail network which serves Merseyside and adjacent areas of Lancashire and Cheshire in North West England. The network consists of two lines, the Northern Line and Wirral Line, which together serve 69 stations along of routes, of which are underground. It uses Class 777 trains based on the Stadler METRO platform, which primarily operate on electrified track. The network carried 29.9 million passengers in 2024/2025. Since 2003 the network has been run as a concession, held by Serco and Transport UK Group.
