Units of frequency

page 1
hertz
The hertz (symbol: Hz) is the unit of frequency in the International System of Units (SI), often described as being equivalent to one event (or cycle) per second. The hertz is an SI derived unit whose formal expression in terms of SI base units is 1/s or s−1, meaning that one hertz is one per second or the reciprocal of one second. It is used only in the case of periodic events. It is named after Heinrich Rudolf Hertz (1857–1894), the first person to provide conclusive proof of the existence of electromagnetic waves. For high frequencies, the unit is commonly expressed in multiples: kilohertz
becquerel
The becquerel (; symbol: Bq) is the unit of radioactivity in the International System of Units (SI). One becquerel is defined as an activity of one per second, on average, for aperiodic activity events referred to a radionuclide. For applications relating to human health this is a small quantity, and SI multiples of the unit are commonly used.
baud
In telecommunications and electronics, baud (; symbol: Bd) is a common unit of measurement of symbol rate, which is one of the components that determine the speed of communication over a data channel.
wavenumber

FLOPS
measure of computer performance
revolutions per minute
number of rotations around a fixed axis in one minute
beats per minute
speed of a piece of music
instructions per second
measure of a computer's processing speed
frames per second
measurement unit for video frame rate
IOPS
Input/output operations per second (IOPS, pronounced eye-ops) is an input/output performance measurement used to characterize computer storage devices like hard disk drives (HDD), solid state drives (SSD), and storage area networks (SAN). Like benchmarks, IOPS numbers published by storage device manufacturers do not directly relate to real-world application performance.
actions per minute
frequency unit
cycle per second
historic synonym for hertz, the unit of frequency
solar neutrino unit
unit of solar neutrino flux equal to the neutrino flux producing 10⁻³⁶ captures per target atom per second
counts per minute
unit of ionizing radiation as measured by a specific detector
