Mittersill (; ) is a city in the federal state of Salzburg, Austria, in the Pinzgau region of the Alps. It is located on the Salzach River. It has a population of 5,408 as of 2011.

The Rötspitze (; ) is a mountain in the Hohe Tauern on the border between Tyrol, Austria, and South Tyrol, Italy.

The Birnlücke () is the border pass at the western end of the Hohe Tauern mountains in Austria, between the Venediger Group and the adjoining Zillertal Alps. The border between Austria and Italy has run over the pass since 1919. The pass forms the border between the Austrian state of Salzburg and the Italian province of South Tyrol, the valleys of the Krimmler Achental and Ahrntal, and the Rieserferner-Ahrn Nature Park and Hohe Tauern National Park.

The Keeskogel, a mountain with a height of , lies in the Venediger Group of the High Tauern in Austria. The summit is located about 4 km as the crow flies northwest of the Großvenediger (). The waymarked, glacier-free normal route from the Kürsinger Hut (), is a relatively straightforward climb in dry and snow-free condition and takes about 1½ to 2 hours to reach the summit (sure-footedness required). The Schlatenkees is a glacier in the Venediger Group that is in the core zone of the High Tauern National Park, east of the Großvenediger. It is in the East Tyrolean community of Matrei in Osttirol. With an area of around , the Schlatenkees is the largest valley glacier in East Tyrol and, after the Obersulzbachkees, the second largest glacier in the Venediger group. The exposure is mainly to the east, in the highest area also to the south-east.
