It is on the western shore of Ullswater, in the English Lake District. In 1931 the civil parish had a population of 448. On 1 April 1934 the civil parish was merged into Matterdale.

Laversdale is a village in Cumbria, England, situated to the north of Carlisle Lake District Airport. In 1870-72 the township had a population of 428. One of its more distinctive buildings is a thatched tithe barn, now a private house. The manor of Laversdale traditionally lies within the parish and bailiwick of Irthington in the Barony of Gilsland, and covers 3200 acres. Crooklands is a hamlet in Westmorland and Furness, Cumbria, England, south of Kendal on the A65 road and the Lancaster Canal. Historically part of Westmorland, it is in the parish of Preston Richard but adjacent to Preston Patrick to the south east, the boundary roughly following Peasey Beck. Lindal-in-Furness is a village on the Furness peninsula, in the Westmorland and Furness district of Cumbria, England. Historically in Lancashire, it lies eight miles to the north-east of Barrow-in-Furness, on the A590 trunk road. The civil parish is Lindal and Marton which had a population of 755 at the 2011 Census, and includes the village of Marton.

Hallbankgate is a village in Cumbria, England, east of Carlisle. A former coal and lead mining village, it straddles the A689 Brampton to Alston road. Limestone is quarried here and it once had a gasworks and a forge. The village has a primary school, a village shop and tea room and a pub. There are three other hamlets in the civil parish, Farlam, Kirkhouse and Tindale.

Gleaston is a village with a population of around 400 in the Furness area of South Cumbria, situated between the towns of Barrow-in-Furness, Dalton-in-Furness and Ulverston.
