Vinje
Vinje is a municipality in Telemark county, Norway. It is located in the traditional district of Vest-Telemark which is part of Øvre Telemark. The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Åmot. Other villages in the municipality include Arabygdi, Edland, Grunge, Haukeli, Krossen, Møsstrond, Nesland, Øyfjell, Raulandsgrend, and Vinje.

Hardangervidda
Hardangervidda () is a mountain plateau () in central southern Norway, covering parts of Vestland, Telemark, and Buskerud counties. It is the largest plateau of its kind in Europe, with a cold year-round alpine climate, and one of Norway's largest glaciers, Hardangerjøkulen, is situated here. Much of the plateau is protected as part of Hardangervidda National Park. Hardangervidda is a popular tourist and leisure destination, and it is ideal for many outdoor activities.

Møsvatn or Møsvann is a lake in Vinje Municipality in Telemark county, Norway. It is the tenth-largest lake in Norway with a surface area of and a volume of . The lake lies just east of the Hardangervidda National Park, in Skien watershed (Skiensvassdrag) catchment area. The lake discharges into the Måna river at a dam located on the Vinje-Tinn municipal border (so a very small part of the lake crosses into Tinn Municipality too). Totak is a lake in Vinje Municipality in Telemark county, Norway. The lake is located in the Rauland area, about to the north of the village of Åmot. The lake is part of the Skien river watershed (Skiensvassdraget), discharging via the river Tokke which flows into the lake Bandak to the south. At deep, Totak is the 11th deepest lake in Norway. This tremendous overdeepening marks it as a glacially formed lake with characteristics similar to a fjord. Its volume of makes it the 24th largest by volume as well. Haukeli
Haukeli (historically Haukeligrend) is a village in Vinje Municipality in Telemark county, Norway. The village is located up in the Haukelifjell mountains, just south of the Hardangervidda National Park and immediately west of the village of Edland. Haukeli is where Norwegian National Road 9 and European route E134 meet. It is the last larger village heading west before going over the mountain pass and entering Western Norway. In 2000, the village's name was officially changed to Haukeli.

Songavatnet
Songavatnet (also spelled as Songevatnet or Songavatn) is a lake in Vinje Municipality in Telemark county, Norway. It has a surface area of and lies at an elevation of . The lake lies just south of the border of Hardangervidda National Park and just southeast of the mountain Vassdalseggi. The villages of Haukeli and Edland are both located about to the south of the lake and the village of Arabygdi lies about to the southeast of the lake. The lake flows out into the river Songa which flows to the southeast into the nearby lake Totak.

Kistenuten
Kistenuten is a tall mountain in southern Norway. It is located in the Ryfylkeheiane mountains at the tripoint border of three different counties (and three municipalities): Suldal Municipality in Rogaland county, Ullensvang Municipality in Vestland county, and Vinje Municipality in Telemark county. The mountain is the fourth tallest mountain in Telemark county, the second tallest in Rogaland county, but it is not even in the top 25 tallest mountains in Vestland county. The mountain Sandfloegga lies about to the north, inside Hardangervidda National Park.

Vassdalseggi is the tallest mountain in Rogaland county, Norway. The tall mountain sits on the border of Vinje Municipality (in Telemark county) and Suldal Municipality (in Rogaland county). Vassdalseggi lies in the Ryfylkeheiane mountains about north of the mountain Fitjanuten and about southeast of the mountain Kistenuten.

Vinjevatn
Vinjevatn is a lake in Vinje Municipality in Telemark county, Norway. The lake lies a short distance to the northwest of the village of Åmot. The village of Vinje lies at the north end of the lake. The main natural influx comes from the river Smørkleppåi, and the lake drains through the river Vinjeåi which meets the river Tokke at Åmot. The lake is part of the Skien watershed. The European route E134 highway runs along the northern shore of the lake.

Setesdalsheiene () is the collective term for the mountains to the west and east of the Setesdalen valley in Agder county in Southern Norway. The river Otra flows through the valley between the mountains. This area is primarily located in the municipalities of Bykle, Valle, Bygland, Evje og Hornnes, Sirdal, Kvinesdal, and Åseral. The vast Hardangervidda plateau lies to the north and the Ryfylkeheiene mountains lie to the west.

Haukelifjell is a mountain area and a mountain pass in South Norway. The area is located in Vinje Municipality (in Telemark county) and Ullensvang Municipality (in Vestland county). The mountain area partially overlaps the Hardangervidda mountain plateau, and is defined by the villages of Røldal to the west and Haukeli in the east.
