Västmanland

Västmanland ( or ) is a historical Swedish province, or , in middle Sweden. It borders Södermanland, Närke, Värmland, Dalarna and Uppland.

The castle was built by The Privy Council of Denmark, Bengt Fadersson, in the 1480s and was created as the stronghold.

the present castle was built by the Lord High Chancellor Axel Oxenstierna in 1625–1645
