Whangārei
Whangārei is the northernmost city in New Zealand and the largest settlement of the Northland Region. It is part of the Whangarei District, created in 1989 from the former Whangarei City, Whangarei County and Hikurangi Town councils to administer both the city and its hinterland. The city population was estimated to be an increase from 47,000 in 2001.

Hikurangi

Hikurangi is a settlement in Northland, New Zealand. The city of Whangārei is to the south, and Kawakawa is northwest. The Glenbervie Forest is southeast of the settlement. State Highway 1 once passed through the town, but now bypasses it to the west. Mount Hikurangi is a volcanic dome rising to the west of the town. It is 1.2 million years old, and part of the Harbour Fault which also includes Parakiore, near Kamo, and Parihaka in Whangarei.

Ruakākā
Ruakākā is a small town on Bream Bay, in Whangarei District in the north of New Zealand, around 30 kilometres south of central Whangārei. Originally a small beachside community, Ruakākā saw development in the 1980s due to expansion of nearby Marsden Point, New Zealand's sole oil refinery. A recently established timber processing plant at Marsden Point has further stimulated growth.

Ngunguru
Ngunguru is a coastal settlement in Northland, New Zealand, north-east of Whangārei. The Ngunguru River flows between the settlement and a long low sandspit into Ngunguru Bay, which stretches southwards. North of Ngunguru are Tutukaka and Matapouri. Just off the Ngunguru coast are the Poor Knights Islands, a protected marine reserve.

Tutukaka
Tutukaka () is a locality on the east coast of Northland, New Zealand, in an area commonly referred to as the Tutukaka Coast which includes Ngunguru and Matapouri. The city of Whangārei is to the southwest. The residential areas of Tutukaka fringe the hills surrounding Tutukaka Harbour, which has a history as a local fishing port and hosts the Tutukaka marina. The Māori name comes from the term tūtū kākā, which means a parrot (kākā) snaring tree (tūtū).

Taurikura is a small, rural township in the Whangarei District, approximately south east of Whangārei city in Northland, New Zealand. The town is located on the shores of Calliope Bay at the base of Mount Manaia which, along with Bream Head and the Hen Island, collectively form the ancient remnants of a very large andesitic volcano.
