X-ray crystallography
technique used for determining the atomic or molecular structure of a crystal, in which the ordered atoms cause a beam of incident X-rays to diffract into specific directions
Bragg's law
gives the angles for coherent and incoherent scattering from a crystal lattice
Moseley's law
empirical law concerning the characteristic x-rays that are emitted by atoms
linear particle accelerator
type of particle accelerator
X-ray fluorescence
emission of characteristic "secondary" X-rays from a material that has been excited by high-energy X-rays or gamma rays
X-ray diffraction
physical phenomenon
Cockcroft–Walton generator
electric circuit which generates a high DC voltage from a low voltage AC or pulsing DC input
energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy
analytical technique used for the elemental analysis or chemical characterization of a sample
X unit
unit of length; approximately 0.10021 picometres
N ray
thumb|right|Fig. 6,7 from Prosper-René Blondlot: "Registration by Photography of the Action Produced by N Rays on a Small Electric Spark". Nancy, 1904. N-rays (or N rays) were a hypothesized form of radiation described by French physicist Prosper-René Blondlot in 1903. They were initially confirmed by others, but subsequently found to be illusory.
