An incomplete cast copper-alloy strap fitting, probably a fragment of Lorica Segmentata armour of Roman date. It is missing both ends due to old breaks. The surviving fragment is flat, rectangular in form with a slightly pitted dark green/brown patina on all surfaces. On the front face it has incised or punched decoration comprising a double grooved border within which are two central circular rivet holes.
