Incomplete Roman sheet copper alloy armour scale from a lorica (Roman armour). It is rectangular in shape and apparantly broken at one end (it now has a jagged edge). The opposite end is not damaged and has two semi circular cuttings in the edge, presumably for rivet attachments.Running vertically along the centre of the scale is a rib, created by pushing both edges of the scale inwards to create a ridge (on the reverse is a corresponding furrow).
