Fragment of Late Medieval (c.AD14th Century) copper alloy knuckle guard plate with central spike. This is a piece of a Medieval gauntlet domed to fit over an articulated knuckle with a rivet hole eith side of the central spike which has a square pyramidoidal cross section. There is a triangular incised decoration pointing inwards towards the spike. The plate has split where the metal has been thinned to produce the spike. Most likely from a mid finger joint as gauntlets at this time were made up
