==Taxonomy== Sporastatia was circumscribed by Italian lichenologist Abramo Bartolommeo Massalongo in 1854, with Sporastatia testudinea assigned as the type species. The name Gyrothecium, proposed by William Nylander in 1855, is a synonym of Sporastatia.
