Etymology: Originated 1915–1920; from Cuban Spanish daiquiri, named after a beach on the south coast of Cuba, from Taíno.

1. A cocktail of rum, lemon or lime juice and sugar, sometimes with fruit added.

   “Or maybe you just believe that limes are for summer, best reserved for daiquiris and mojitos. That last argument is debatable, but defensible. In any case, El Presidente is less daiquiri and more Manhattan, less summer and more winter.”
