Etymology: From low + hanging.

  1. That hovers low above the ground.

    There are no easy routes up trees, otherwise you'd see deer and cows grazing in them. You have to jump up and grab a low-hanging branch, and then either walk up the tree or fling your legs up.

    A low-hanging ironwood tree drapes over the crumbling remains of an abandoned stone house, one-time home of Henry Wickenburg, patriarch of this forgotten town.
