Etymology: Adapted borrowing of Latin nāscentia + -ence, from nāscentem (“arising young, immature”), present participle of nāscī (“to be born”) (Old Latin gnāscī; see genus). Doublet of nascency.

1. Birth.

2. Coming into being; inception, beginning.
