Etymology: From trans- + misogyny. Coined by Julia Serano in 2006 and popularised in her 2007 book Whipping Girl, who defined it as the intersection of traditional sexism (belief in women's inferiority) with oppositional sexism (belief in a rigid gender binary).

1. Hatred of or contempt for trans women.
