Thane (; known as Thana until 1996) is a city in western India, in the state of Maharashtra. It neighbours Mumbai and is part of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. It is situated in the north-east of Salsette Island.

Ambarnath (Marathi pronunciation: [əmbəɾnaːt̪ʰ]) is an eastern suburban city in Thane district of Maharashtra and is a part of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.
