Murbad city with its neighbouring villages jointly form the Murbad nagar panchayat, which is near the cities of Thane, Karjat and Kalyan. Nearby cities include Badlapur, Ambernath, Ulhasnagar, and Dombivli. It is a largely industrial town with private and public enterprises (MIDC).
