Xiphosura
Xiphosura (; , in reference to its sword-like telson) is an order of arthropods related to arachnids. They are more commonly known as horseshoe crabs (a name applied more specifically to the only extant family, Limulidae). They first appear in the fossil record in the Early Ordovician, around 480 million years ago. Currently, there are only four living species. Xiphosura contains one suborder, Xiphosurida, and several stem-genera.

Heikegani
is a species of crab native to Japan, with a shell that bears a pattern resembling a human face – an example of the phenomenon of pareidolia – which is interpreted to be the face of an angry samurai, hence the nickname samurai crab. The crabs are named after the once powerful Taira clan which dominated medieval Japan, commonly known as the Heike. It is believed that these crabs are reincarnations of the Heike warriors defeated at the naval Battle of Dan-no-ura as told in The Tale of the Heike. While the crabs are edible, they are not eaten by most Japanese.
Carcinus
Carcinus ( Karkinos) is a genus of crabs, which includes Carcinus maenas, an important invasive species, and C. aestuarii, a species endemic to the Mediterranean Sea.

Raninidae
Raninidae is a family of unusual crabs, sometimes known as "frog crabs", on account of their frog-like appearance. They are taken by most scientists to be quite primitive among the true crabs. They closely resemble the (unrelated) mole crabs, due to parallel evolution or convergent evolution. In both groups, the claws are modified into tools for digging, and the body is a rounded shape that is easy to bury in sand. Unlike most other true crabs, the abdomens of raninids are not curled under the cephalothorax.

Leucosiidae
Leucosiidae is a family of crabs containing three subfamilies and a number of genera incertae sedis:
Ranina ranina
species of crab
freshwater crab

Dorippidae
Dorippidae is a small family of crabs, commonly found in the shallow sand and mud substrate in coastal waters. Though common, they don't contribute any economic value and are often discarded as bycatch.

Hymenosomatidae
Hymenosomatidae is a family of crabs with some 110 described species in 24 genera. The following genera are placed in the Hymenosomatidae:

Trapeziidae
Trapeziidae is a family of crabs, commonly known as coral crabs. All the species in the family are found in a close symbiosis with cnidarians. They are found across the Indo-Pacific, and can best be identified to the species level by the colour patterns they display. Members of the family Tetraliidae were previously included in the Trapeziidae, but the similarities between the taxa is the result of convergent evolution.
Trapezia
genus of crustaceans

Glyptograpsidae
Glyptograpsidae is a family of crabs belonging to the superfamily Grapsoidea.

Crabs are decapod crustaceans, either the Brachyura (the "true crabs") or various groups within the closely related Anomura (hermit crabs and allies), characterised by having a heavily armoured shell, their tail segments concealed under the body, the ability to run sideways, and the habit of hiding in rocky crevices. They do not form a single natural group or clade, but have convergently evolved multiple times from the ancestral decapod body plan through carcinisation, the process of creating this set of characteristic
Palicidae
The family Palicidae, sometimes called stilt crabs, are a group of crabs. Some genera previously included in this family are now placed in a separate family, the Crossotonotidae.

Ebalia
Ebalia is a genus of crab in the family Leucosiidae.

Corystes cassivelaunus
Corystes cassivelaunus, the masked crab, helmet crab or sand crab, is a burrowing crab of the North Atlantic and North Sea from Portugal to Norway, which also occurs in the Mediterranean Sea. It may grow up to long (carapace length). The name "masked crab" derives from the patterns on the carapace which resemble a human face (a case of pareidolia), in a similar manner to heikegani. It is the only species in the genus Corystes.

Ranina
Ranina is a genus of crabs belonging to the family Raninidae. It has two extant species.

Hepatus scaber Holthuis, 1959
Ixa
Ixa is a genus of Indo-Pacific pebble crabs from the family Leucosiidae. The genus was erected by William Elford Leach in 1816. One species, the Red Sea pebble crab (Ixa monodi), is a Lessepsian migrant and the species was first described to science from specimens collected on the Mediterranean Sea although the species is native to the Red Sea and had colonised the eastern Mediterranean through the Suez Canal.
Xenograpsus
Xenograpsus is a genus of crustaceans belonging to the monotypic family Xenograpsidae.
Coleusia
Coleusia is a genus of Indo-Pacific pebble crabs of the family Leucosiidae. The six species currently recognised were formerly classed within the genus Leucosia. They were separated into Coleusia in 2006 based on the fusion of segments 3-5 on the abdomens of the males and the three times axial coiling of the shaft of the first pleopod, which bears a tufted lobe on its distal portion and an elongated apical process.
