Cambuslang (, from ) is a town on the south-eastern outskirts of Greater Glasgow, Scotland. With approximately 30,000 residents, it is the 27th-largest town in Scotland by population, although, never having had a town hall, it may also be considered the largest village in Scotland. It is within the local authority area of South Lanarkshire and directly borders the town of Rutherglen to the west. Historically, it was a large civil parish incorporating the nearby hamlets of Newton, Flemington, Westburn and Halfway.

Bonnyrigg is a town in Midlothian, Scotland, southeast of Edinburgh city centre, between the Rivers North and South Esk. The town had a population of 14,663 in the 2001 census, rising to 15,677 in the 2011 census, both figures being based on the 2010 definition of the locality, which, as well as Bonnyrigg and the adjacent settlement of Lasswade, includes Polton village, Poltonhall housing estate, and modern development at Hopefield. The estimated population was 18,120, the highest of any town in Midlothian. Along with Lasswade, Bonnyrigg is a twin town with Saint-Cyr-l'École, France.

Tranent is a town in East Lothian (formerly Haddingtonshire), in the south-east of Scotland. Tranent lies from the boundary of Edinburgh, and from the city centre. It lies south of the A1 road that runs through the parish splitting it from its associated villages and hamlets Meadowmill and the ports of Cockenzie and Port Seton. The original main post road ran straight through the town until the new A1 was built. Built on a gentle slope, about above sea level it is one of the oldest towns in East Lothian. The population of the town is approximately 12,140, an increase of over 4,000 since 2001.

It is near the site of the 1745 Battle of Prestonpans (first called the Battle of Gladsmuir, then renamed the Battle of Tranent, and later still renamed the Battle of Prestonpans – although evidence shows the battle occurred a few miles outside of town). Moodiesburn is a village in Scotland, located northeast of Glasgow, in the North Lanarkshire council area. It is situated on the north side of the A80 road and between the M73 and M80 motorways which converge nearby. Moodiesburn does not directly adjoin any other settlements, though the contiguous villages of Chryston and Muirhead are located a short distance to the west (the boundary being the Strathkelvin railway path) with Stepps just beyond, while outer parts of Cumbernauld lie to the east; however, its centre is about from Moodiesburn.

Coalsnaughton or Calabar (from ) is a village in Clackmannanshire, Scotland. It is just south of Tillicoultry, in whose parish the village lies. The miners' row was built by Robert Bald. The name was recorded as Cosnachtan in 1492 and is probably named after Nechtan mac Der-Ilei, a Pictish king. As a result of the mining industry in the town, the first syllable got interpreted as "Coals". This then got re-interpreted by some Gaelic speakers as having come from Gaelic caolas "strait".

Drongan is a former mining village in East Ayrshire, some east of Ayr and west of Cumnock. It had a population of 4686 in 2011.

Kirkconnel (Gaelic: Cille Chonbhaill) is a small parish in Dumfries and Galloway, southwestern Scotland. It is located on the A76 near the head of Nithsdale. Principally it was a mining community thriving until the late 1960s when the local mine, Fauldhead colliery closed. It has strong ties to football. The name comes from The Church of Saint Conal. In 1850 the village had only a single street. Next to Kirkconnel is a separate village called Kelloholm.

Viewpark is an area in North Lanarkshire, Scotland. Situated immediately north-east of Uddingston (but on the other side of the M74 motorway), Viewpark is west of Bellshill. It has an estimated population of 13,916 in 2016, a figure which also includes the smaller adjoining neighbourhoods of Birkenshaw, Bellziehill, Calderbraes, Fallside and Tannochside under the Thorniewood ward of the local council.

The population in 1901 was 835. It was originally known as Waterhead.

Skinflats is a small village in the Falkirk council area of Scotland. It is located north-west of Grangemouth, east of Carronshore and north-east of Falkirk. It lies on the A905 road between Glensburgh and Airth, near to the River Carron and the point where it flows into the Firth of Forth.

Cambusbarron is a village in Stirling, Scotland. In the 2001 census, it had a population of 3,224. There is evidence of settlement at the site since the Bronze Age, and several forts dating from the Iron Age have been found near the village. One such fort is located at Gillies Hill, a large semi-natural ancient woodland area with a range of unusual wildlife, thought to be the site of Robert the Bruce's camp shortly before the Battle of Bannockburn.
