The Sacred City of Caral-Supe, or simply Caral, is an archaeological site in Peru where the remains of the main city of the Caral civilization are found. It is located in the Supe District of Peru, near the current town of Caral, north of Lima, from the coast and 350 meters above sea level. Acaray, also known as the Fortress of Acaray, is an archaeological site located in the Huaura River Valley on the near north coast of Peru (or the Norte Chico region). The impressive fortress is located on a series of three hilltops, each ringed with a number of perimeter defensive walls that have parapets and bastions, which stand as testaments to the military nature of the site. Peñico was an ancient Caral city located in the Peruvian province of Huaura in the northern Lima Region. The city is thought to have been founded between 1800 and 1500 BC. The Peruvian Ministry of Culture announced opening the site to the public in July 2025 following eight years of research and restorations. Numerous ancient towns found in the Supe and adjacent valleys are readily apparent and visible in satellite imagery, only a few have developed visitation facilities.
