AnitaB.org (formerly Anita Borg Institute for Women and Technology (ABI), and Institute for Women in Technology) is a global, technical nonprofit organization based in Sacramento, California. Founded by computer scientists Anita Borg and Telle Whitney for technical women, the institute's primary aim is to recruit, retain, and advance women in technology.

LinuxChix was a women-oriented Linux community project. It was formed to provide both technical and social support for women Linux users, although men were encouraged to contribute. Members of the community were referred to as "a Linux chick" (singular) and "LinuxChix" or "Linux Chix" (plural) regardless of gender. In 2025 due to decreasing interest the group ceased operations.

PyLadies is an international mentorship group which focuses on helping more women become active participants in the Python open-source community. It is part of the Python Software Foundation. It was started in Los Angeles in 2011. The mission of the group is to create a diverse Python community through outreach, education, conferences and social gatherings. PyLadies also provides funding for women to attend open source conferences. The aim of PyLadies is increasing the participation of women in computing. Academic American association

Laboratoria is an organization founded in 2014 in Lima, Peru, that trains women in technology skills. It operates 6-month, 100% remote bootcamps focused on web development, UX design, and technical and life skills. The program is aimed at women who have faced barriers to starting careers in technology. Following the bootcamp, Laboratoria provides employment support to help graduates secure jobs in the tech sector. The organization has a community of over 3,500 graduates  who have been hired by more than 1,100 companies. In 2024 Laboratoria reported an average job placement rate of 79%.

Geochicas is a collective of feminists linked to OpenStreetMap, originally Spanish-speaking, who work for female empowerment and reducing the gender gap in the OpenStreetMap communities and communities associated with the world of free software and open data. Geochicas today has users on at least 3 continents.
