page 1
Acrorchis
Acrorchis is a monotypic genus from the orchid family (Orchidaceae), subfamily Epidendroideae, tribe Epidendreae, subtribe Laeliinae.
Zophorame
Zophorame is a genus of brushed trapdoor spiders first described by Robert Raven in 1990. It is endemic to Australia.
Rastellus
Rastellus is a genus of small spiders in the family Gnaphosidae. The genus contains seven species endemic to southern Africa, with the northernmost record from Botswana. Originally placed in the family Ammoxenidae, the genus was transferred to Gnaphosidae in 2022.
Vibrisseaceae
The Vibrisseaceae are a family of fungi in the order Helotiales. The family was circumscribed by mycologist Richard P. Korf in 1990 to include the genera Vibrissea, Chlorovibrissea, and Leucovibrissea. According to the Dictionary of the Fungi (10th edition, 2008), the family encompasses 5 genera and 59 species.
Dictyonellidae
Dictyonellidae is a family of sponges in the order Bubarida, based on the genus Dictyonella Schmidt, 1868.
Esselenichthys
Esselenichthys is a genus of marine ray-finned fishes belonging to the family Cebidichthyidae, the monkeyface pricklebacks. These fishes are found in the eastern central Pacific Ocean.
Platygloeales
The Platygloeales are an order of fungi in the class Pucciniomycetes. Species in the order have auricularioid basidia (tubular with lateral septa) and are typically plant parasites on mosses, ferns, and angiosperms, though Platygloea species appear to be saprotrophic.
Japewia
Japewia is a genus of lichen-forming fungi in the family Lecanoraceae. The genus was circumscribed in 1990 by the Norwegian lichenologist Tor Tønsberg, who assigned J. tornoënsis as the type species. The new genus is named in honour of Peter Wilfred James, a notable lichenologist, with Japewia being derived from the first letters of his initials (Ja) and his surname (Pe) followed by a typical Latin suffix (-wia).
Zwackhiomyces
Zwackhiomyces is a genus of lichenicolous (lichen-dwelling) fungi in the family Xanthopyreniaceae.
Sphingomonas
Sphingomonas was defined in 1990 as a group of Gram-negative, rod-shaped, chemoheterotrophic, strictly aerobic bacteria. They possess ubiquinone 10 as their major respiratory quinone, contain glycosphingolipids (GSLs), specifically ceramide, instead of lipopolysaccharide (LPS) in their cell envelopes, and typically produce yellow-pigmented colonies. The GSL serves to protect the bacteria from antibacterial substances. Unlike most Gram-negative bacteria, Sphingomonas cannot carry endotoxins due to the lack of lipopolysaccharides, and has a hydrophobic surface characterized by the short nature o
Waynea
Waynea is a genus of lichen-forming fungi in the family Ramalinaceae. The genus was established in 1990 by the Swedish lichenologist Roland Moberg and named after the Wayne family who helped organize his collecting trip to California, where he collected the type species. The tiny lichens in Waynea form patches made up of scale-like lobes less than half a millimetre across, with powdery cushions that help them spread without sexual reproduction. The genus contains six species. Most records are from southern and western Europe, particularly around the Mediterranean region, but it has also been r
Gypsoplacaceae
Gypsoplacaceae is a family of lichenized fungi in the order Lecanorales. This is a monotypic family, containing the single genus Gypsoplaca, which has a widespread distribution. The family and genus were described as new in 1990 by Norwegian lichenologist Einar Timdal. Gypsoplaca originally contained only the type species, Gypsoplaca macrophylla, but four species were added to the genus in 2018.
Phragmoxenidiaceae
The Phragmoxenidiaceae are a family of fungi in the order Tremellales. Only a single species from central and northern Europe is known, Phragmoxenidium mycophilum.
Geltingia
Geltingia is a fungal genus in the family Helicogoniaceae. It is monotypic, containing the single lichenicolous species Geltingia associata. The genus was circumscribed in 1990 by mycologists Vagn Alstrup and David Leslie Hawksworth. The genus name honours Danish scientist Paul Gelting.
Thenmus
Thenmus is a genus of pseudoscorpions in the Menthidae family. It is endemic to Australia and was described in 1990 by Australian arachnologist Mark Harvey.
Heptamegacanthus
Heptamegacanthus is a genus of acanthocephalans (thorny-headed or spiny-headed parasitic worms) containing a single species, Heptamegacanthus niekerki, that is a parasite of the endangered giant golden mole. It is found only in isolated forests in the Transkei and near East London, both in South Africa. The worms are about 4 mm long and 2 mm wide with minimal sexual dimorphism. An individual's body consists of a short, wide trunk and a tubular feeding and sucking organ called the proboscis which is covered with hooks. The hooks are used to pierce and hold the rectal wall of its host.
Occultifur
Occultifur is a genus of fungi in the family Cystobasidiaceae. Species are parasites of other fungi and, microscopically, have auricularioid (laterally septate) basidia and basidiospores that germinate by yeast cells. Several species are currently only known from their yeast states. The genus is distributed worldwide.
Efibula
Efibula is a genus of 16 species of crust fungi in the family Irpicaceae.
Marchandiomyces
Marchandiomyces is a genus of fungi in the family Corticiaceae.
Pilatoporus
Pilatoporus is a genus of fungi in the family Fomitopsidaceae.
Corticifraga
Corticifraga is a genus of lichenicolous (lichen-dwelling) fungi in the family Gomphillaceae. The genus was established in 1990 and contains ten species that live as parasites on foliose lichens, mostly targeting species in the family Peltigeraceae. The produce no independent body (thallus) of their own, instead growing beneath the host's outer and eventually producing small, dark fruiting bodies that break through the surface.
Garthiope
Garthiope is a genus of crabs in the family Pseudorhombilidae, containing the following species:
Hickmanoxyomma

Omphalora
Omphalora is a fungal genus in the family Parmeliaceae. The genus is monotypic, containing the single species Omphalora arizonica, a foliose lichen found in North America.
