Thioxanthenes

Thioxanthene is a chemical compound in which the oxygen atom in xanthene is replaced with a sulfur atom. It is also related to phenothiazine. Several of its derivatives are used as typical antipsychotics in the treatment of schizophrenia and other psychoses.

Pimethixene is an antihistamine and anticholinergic of the thioxanthene chemical class originally developed to treat hyperactivity, anxiety, sleep disorders, and allergy. It is also used for anesthesia and as a bronchodilator (to dilate the bronchi and bronchioles for more airflow).

Metixene (brand names Methixart, CholinFall, Tremonil, Trest), also known as methixene, is an anticholinergic used as an antiparkinsonian agent. It has also been reported to induce incomplete autophagy and cell death in metastatic cancer and brain metastases.

Meprotixol is a cough suppressant. It has also been used for the treatment of rheumatic diseases.
