Ashtarak
Ashtarak ( ) is a town in the Ashtarak Municipality of the Aragatsotn Province of Armenia, located on the left bank of Kasagh River along the gorge, 20 km northwest of the capital Yerevan. It is the administrative centre of the province and an important crossroad of routes for the Yerevan–Gyumri–Vanadzor triangle.

Abovyan or Abovian ( ) is a town and urban municipal community in Armenia within the Kotayk Province. It is located northeast of Yerevan and southeast of the province centre Hrazdan. As of the 2022 census, the population of the town was 46,434.

Oshakan
Oshakan () is a village in the Ashtarak Municipality of the Aragatsotn Province of Armenia located 3 kilometers southwest from Ashtarak. It is well known to historians and pilgrims of the Armenian Apostolic Church as the site of the grave of Mesrop Mashtots, the inventor of the Armenian alphabet.

Metsadzor () is a village in the Metsadzor Municipality of the Aragatsotn Province of Armenia. Most inhabitants are Yezidis – the town's name means "waterless" in Kurdish.
Margara
thumb|Bridge over Arax at Margara in 1925. Margara (, also Romanized as Markara; formerly Margara-Gök) is a town in the Armavir Province of Armenia. Margara is the closest border crossing to Turkey from Yerevan, though Turkey closed the border with Armenia in 1993. The town is located on the other side of Alican. Margara has a road bridge across the Arax River to Turkey. The Margara border crossing was guarded by guards of the Russian Federal Security Service from 1992 to 2025. The Border Guard Service of Armenia patrols this crossing between Armenia and Turkey.
Aknashen
Aknashen (, also Romanized as Aknachen; until 1978, Khatunarkh Verin, Verin Khatunarkh, and Khatunarkh, also Russified as Verkhniy Khatunarkh) is a town in the Armavir Province of Armenia. The town's church is dedicated to Saint Bartholomew; nearby is a ruin of an 8th-century building.

Balahovit
Balahovit (, also Romanized as Balaovit; formerly until 1968, Mgub, Mekhub, and Mehub) is a village in the Kotayk Province of Armenia. The majority of the early settlers of the village immigrated in 1828-29 from Khoy and Salmast in present-day Iran, while some of the immigrants came from Bulankh. It was renamed Balahovit in 1968 at the request of an Armenian-American group, after one of the eight cantons (gavar) of Sophene in Greater Armenia, of the same name. The community has a school, house of culture, and a first aid station, as well as the site of Yerevan Veterinary Institute's experiment

Artashavan () is a village in the Ashtarak Municipality of the Aragatsotn Province of Armenia. In the village to the northeast, is the restored 7th-century Surp Amenaprkich Church. The villages of Lusaghbyur and Nigatun are also within the community of Artashavan.
Arshaluys
Arshaluys (, until 1935 Kyorpalu) is a village in the Armavir Province of Armenia. It is located 14 km north-east from the regional center. It is located on the right bank of the Kasagh River. The city is about 19 km from Yerevan. The settlement is 860 meters above sea level. It has a direct road to Vagharshapat and Yerevan.

Geghakert (; also referred to as Samaghar), is a village in the Armavir Province of Armenia. The village has a 13th-century church known as Surb Harutyun (Holy Resurrection)., as well as a memorial fountain dedicated to those who died in World War II. There is also a school (407 students), first aid station, house of culture, community center, and a kindergarten.

The town is named for Aleksandr Myasnikyan, the Armenian Bolshevik revolutionary and statesman who led Soviet Armenia at the beginning of Lenin's New Economic Policy (NEP). It is the location of Araks railway station. The town's population is 4,036 people, which is mainly populated by Armenians and Kurds (including Yazidis).
