The Commission was created to examine evidence developed by all relevant government agencies regarding the facts and causes of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, occurring at the World Trade Center in New York, in Somerset County, Pennsylvania, and the Pentagon in Virginia. The Commission reviewed the findings and recommendations of the Joint Inquiry of the Select Committee on Intelligence of the Senate, the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence of the House, and other executive branch, congressional or independent commission investigations regarding the September 11, 2001 attacks. The Commission was terminated August 24, 2004 after submitting its final report.
