In 2008 brak ze bij het grote publiek door met haar album 19 en singles als 'Chasing Pavements' en 'Make You Feel My Love'. In 2010 en 2011 had ze grote hits met 'Rolling in the Deep', 'Set Fire to the Rain' en 'Someone Like You' afkomstig van haar tweede album 21. In 2012 schreef ze het nummer 'Skyfall' voor de gelijknamige James Bondfilm. In 2015 kwam haar langverwachte derde album 25 uit. De eerste single uit dit album was 'Hello'.
